To increase access to arts, cultural, and MN history programming at the Wilkin County Fair. Programming will include performances by a bluegrass band, dance group, the Red River Theater, and a one room schoolhouse reenactment. Attendees will also be able to read about the history of the fair on signs placed throughout the grounds, and learn about the history and culture of the livestock industry in the Red River Valley by taking a History Walk.
The Minnesota Zoo’s site – 485 acres of land in Dakota county – is a state treasure that includes a diverse array of habitants including vernal pools, sedge meadows, oak woodlands, and northern rich fens. More than half of this is undeveloped wildlife habitat which, thanks to Legacy funding, is now being explored by zoo staff and guests in order to educate citizens about the wild animals and wild places native to our state and the importance of caring for and conserving these resources.
Funds are appropriated for programs and purposes of the Minnesota Humanities Center. The humanities remind us of where we have been, bring knowledge and insights to current life, and help us envision where we are going. We work to articulate and strengthen what connects us, rather than what divides us.

The Minnesota Historical Society partnered with three separate organizations to make the following traveling exhibits available to communities across the state.
The Healing Through the Arts Initiative will inspire creative methods of coping with illness by removing barriers and increasing opportunities for people with cancer to participate in the arts by attending events at A Center for the Arts, by bringing artists from A Center for the Arts to the Lake Region Healthcare Cancer Care and Research Center, and by developing arts activities that patients can participate in while receiving chemotherapy treatment.
Textile Center will increase access to its exhibition and education programs through a new outreach service for schools and community-based organization serving low-income youth. Partners receive a transportation stipend and youth participate in a gallery program and hands-on art activity.
Textile Center will conduct 12-week fiber art residencies at Sobriety High Charter School sites in Coon Rapids and Edina. This standards-based residency will complement and extend academic programming for students who are recovering from alcohol and drug dependency.
The Textile Center will create a touring exhibition showcasing artistic excellence and innovation in fiber art by accomplished Minnesota fiber artists. The fiber art exhibition will initially travel to Bemidji, Lanesboro, Mankato, and New York Mills and will include hands-on education activities.

"Stories from Yesterday and Today: Continuing the Circle of Life" - A Center for the Arts, Kaddatz Galleries, and Otter Tail County Historical Society bring storytelling into senior centers while gathering stories from seniors to share with community and family.
The primary goal of the Humanities Center’s Education Initiative is to increase student engagement and success; the foundation is strengthening the teacher-student relationship. Drawing upon the multiplicity of experiences and cultures represented in schools, educators gain insight into how to engage every student authentically and respectfully.
