Paul Bunyan Lumberjack; our area (county) has a lengthy history of timber production and logging. We will bring alive the lore of the mighty logger Paul Bunyan., Just 4 Laffs: Family entertainment consisting of clown comedy Magic Shows, balloon tying artistry, educational games and activities.
We have an old farm house that the Anoka County Historical society uses during the fair to demonstrate what it was like to live in the early 1900's. It is in need of some restoration. The first thing we are going to do is rebuild the entire front porch. That includes floor, railing, painting and possibly needing structural support underneath.

We will use our Legacy funds to hire Emotion in Motion as one of our fair entertainers. This is a Minnesota-based company that will give fairgoers a chance to paint their own canvases. Emotion in Motion has their own unique techniques to teach those that want to participate in the painting class.
Our Legacy project will consist of three local bands performing during our fair, all with ties to central Minnesota . Patrick Murphy along with Blonde and the Bohunk will perform a Friday evening concert and Runestone Rebellion will be the band providing musical entertainment on Saturday evening.
Bemidji Science Center will give presentations on animals and science. Rez Reporter will provide a comedy skit representing Indian culture and history. YO-YO Dave will provide Minnesota-based entertainment.
We will have the White Sidewalls Band and Sherwin Linton Band. Both bands are very popular. The Whitesidewalls are a band the Senior Citizens look forward to. It has been many years since Sherwin Linton has been at the Lyon County Fair.
We will be completing our furnace and air conditioning project that was started in 2022 in our Legacy Building that is used for all open class and presentations during the fair.
1) On our large stage we would like to build a small dressing room for performers as they have no place to be ready to perform. 2) Get a portable PA system for the free stage; 3) Hire a Paul Bunyan performer.
We would like to hire Sherwin Linton, a Minnesota native that plays country music and has a large following in our area. Sherwin always has large audiences when he plays our fair. The Red Letter Band is a local Minnesota country band, that plays original music.
To provide local music artists an opportunity to perform folk, Country, and Rock music at the county fair. Funds will be used to pay for sound, lights, stage equipment, and the artists a modest fee to defray expenses and perform.
Jesse Moffitt Magic and Hypnosis show. Sherwin Linton plays Folk, Country, and Rock music. Larry Olson Band plays Polka. We would like to find a local Spanish band to put under our free tent as well.
The chainsaw artist would be able to give many demonstrations throughout the week of the fair. We will contract the Lumberjack show for all seven days of the fair and have lumberjack camps and shows. We will have scheduled three shows a day.
Olmsted County Fair offers a free stage featuring all Rochester, MN or southeastern Minnesota-based musical artists every night of the fair. We plan to use funds from the Legacy Grant to help bring these musical and performing artists to our fair. A few of our featured acts this year include bands County Line Drive and The Soul Train.
Emotion in Motion is a fully immersive artistic painting experience where fairgoers will get to take home a one-of-a-kind piece of art that they created themselves at the fair!
The Kandiyohi County Fair Association would like to invite RJ Kern of Kern Photography. RJ offers six different 30-minute in-person shows, showcasing education about
photography, county fair 4-H, and agricultural history.
Stearns County continues to grow in diversity especially with our Hispanic community. We have had numerous requests to include a Hispanic band as part of our free stage entertainment. We would like to hire them for our Friday evening.
We propose to use the Legacy grant funds to hire Homeward Bound Theatre Company's "Alfy's World of Robotic Puppets." These robotic puppets stroll around the fairgrounds and talk to the children about many agriculture-related topics.
We will have special music (by a local band and single performer). We also want to build new display racks for the handmade quilts to share the local talent with fairgoers.
Cow Tipping Press works to change narratives on intellectual/developmental disability (I/DD)in practice and in print. This project includes three long-desired initiatives aimed at increasing intersectional access and will provide: 1) one online class open to any Minnesotan with I/DD; 2) one in-person class in the Twin Cities that prioritizes BIPOC students; 3) one online or in-person class serving students in Greater Minnesota. For a total of nine new, responsive classes serving 90 adults from diverse populations in Minnesota's disability communities.
Increase capacities for online instruction and development of instructional materials through acquisition of digital technology resources, including computer, cameras, microphones, tripod, editing suite, batteries, chargers etc.
This project will address the critical need of Dakota and Ojibwe immersion schools to have a standardized system for determining reading levels for the Dakota and Ojibwe languages by developing an agreed upon method for assessing the readability of the languages.
The Cedar Cultural Center will 1) hire an expert on auditing overall fundraising strategies and systems; 2) work with staff to create an annual fundraising plan; 3) coach staff to build a culture of philanthropy; 4) coach the board on funding responsibilities; 5) create a job description for a Donor Relations Officer to implement recommendations; 6) carry out database migration.
