To obtain the services of a qualified historian to research and write built environment history content supporting the Como Woodland Outdoor Classroom curriculum
Publication, in book format, of a narrative history of a "company town," Silver Bay, Minnesota, based on interviews with longtime residents (interviews and transcriptions funded by a previous Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund grant) and on interviews previously collected by the Bay Area Historical Society.
To preserve the stories known only to older members of the community a narrative history of Silver Bay, Minnesota was compiled using interviews of longtime residents. The students of William M. Kelley High School recorded and transcribed 15 hours of small-group and individual interviews of 44 early and former residents of the town including officials and employees of Reserve Mining Company. These interviewees relate their experiences of living and working in the area. Silver Bay was established as a "company town" in the late 1950's and remained as such into the early 1980's.

To complete the inventory of the only statewide collection documenting Minnesota military history under the direction of a qualified museum objects curator.
CLUES will create “Santuario,” a multi-layered public art & creative placemaking project uplifting Latino cultural heritage, traditions, & identity; ultimately creating a cultural sanctuary space for Latino immigrant communities. The project will be coordinated by CLUES staff, led by 5 local Latino artists, & will involve 100-200 community participants. Through this process, participants will feel a sense of ownership in the space & will invite other friends and family into our community space.
To acquire professional services to prepare an interpretive plan for public access to history and cultural heritage of the Andrew Peterson Farmstead, listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Plan and implement a five-day immersion methodology training session for 20 Dakota participants, with a follow up weekend workshop. Create a thematic based immersion curriculum, along with assessment tools, for Dakota learners that will be available in print and via an interactive web page. Implement two successful intergenerational immersion sessions for a total of 80 participants, by hiring/training leaders and staff.
The purpose of this grant is to build on what was created with last year’s grant funding by creating a Dakota Language and culture institute. The purpose of the institute is to offer multilevel teacher training seminars and Dakota language and culture immersion sessions for intergenerational groups.

The Islamic Center of Winona (71 West 3rd Street) is part of the Third Street Commercial Historic District in the city of Winona and contains ninety-one buildings (65 contributing, 26 non-contributing)and one vacant lot (noncontributing). According to the 1917 Sanborn map of Winona, this building was originally a bank.
