We propose identifying hot spots of groundwater chloride pollution of surface waters due to excessive road salt use, which is a long term source increasing chloride impairment of surface waters.
To hire professionals to assess and write a collections plan for a historically significant collection, which will allow greater public access to this resource.

Host three Language Celebrations for all teacher participants, their families and students, with Indigenous foods and cultural activities 3.) Provide teachers with a stipend and gift upon completion of the year-long curriculum
To hire qualified professionals to repair the flooring in the Hennepin County Library, Robbinsdale Branch, listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Shanaya Dungey aka The Foolish Know It All will facilitate an artistic & cultural heritage preservation pilot project with five to ten Minnesota based descendants of enslaved African American ancestry to discover, collect, & document their family genealogy in a manner that is culturally relevant, preserves their family history, & honors their stories. The project will culminate with an exhibit capturing the process, participant thoughts throughout, & snippets of genealogy documents created.
The purpose of the project is to collect data to represent the ambient condition of the lakes and streams of the Rum River Watershed within Mille Lacs, Isanti and Sherburne Counties that is needed to determine if thresholds set to protect designeated uses, such as aquatic recreation and aquatic life, are being met .
This project will gather watershed data necessary for the development of a Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy with parameter-specific targets that will maintain or improve water quality in the Rum River Watershed. Local Partners will lead various portions of this project and a hired onsultant will be subcontracted to write selected TMDL protection plans.
This project will focus on Watershed Restoration and Protetion Strategy (WRAPS) and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) report development for the Rum River Watershed, which includes Mille Lacs Lake (the second largest lake in Minnesota) and the Rum River of which Mille Lacs Lake is the headwaters. The project will produce a plan that partners and citizens will be able to implement, a framework for citizen engagement, and a set of watershed management activities that will achieve water quality standards for all impairments within the watershed.
Hennepin County will implement prioritized projects from the Rush Creek Subwatershed Assessment, including closing about 200 open tile intakes on the farms of 11 landowners, establishing 6 grassed waterways, two exclusion fence systems, and two contour farming conversions. These projects will significantly reduce bacteria loads upstream of Elm Creek Park Reserve where the creek serves as a learning laboratory for more the 2,500 students each year. In addion, these projects will reduce sediment by 616 tons per year and phosphorus by 478 pounds per year.
Seven lakes and four streams in the Elm Creek watershed are impaired by excess nutrients, bacteria, low oxygen, and unhealthy biotic communities. Modeling completed for the Watershed Restoration and Protection Strategy identified areas that contribute high loads of sediment and nutrients to the streams and lakes in the watershed, however, the scale of that modeling was not sufficient to pinpoint to the field level where BMPs would be most effective. The Rush Creek Headwaters Subwatershed Assessment will evaluate four high pollutant loading catchments.
The "Sabaidee Cultural Festival," spanning two days, addresses the marginalization of Laotian American communities by providing a platform for cultural expression, education, and community engagement. The festival will feature cultural activities, performances, and educational events showcasing Laotian heritage. Key components include traditional dance, art exhibitions, cooking demonstrations, and language workshops. A cultural village will allow attendees to explore and experience Laotian culture firsthand, creating an immersive cultural experience.
Sandhill cranes have expanded their range in Minnesota and elsewhere and as populations have expanded several states, including Minnesota, have initiated sandhill crane hunting seasons and other states are considering doing the same. Partially this is in response to increasing complaints of crop degradation by sandhill cranes.
The goal of this project is to compile the observed flow and water quality data and update the Sauk River Watershed HSPF model calibration through 2019. The Sauk River Watershed HSPF model simulates hydrology, sediment (sand, silt, and clay), temperature, phosphorus, nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, and chlorophyll a.
This work order will extend all of the timeseries in the Sauk River Watershed Hydrological Simulation Program FORTRAN (HSPF) model through 2019. The Sauk River Watershed HSPF model simulates hydrology, sediment (sand, silt, and clay), temperature, phosphorus, nitrogen, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, and chlorophyll a.
This project will complete an assessment of watershed lakes and streams. The assessment will include biological and stressor id analysis, which will support a summary report on lake conditions and protection strategies for lakes included in this watershed study.
To hire a qualified and experienced historian to prepare a Historic Structure Report that will guide future preservation projects on the Schmid Farmstead Ruins, determined to be eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places
