Prepare Lake Vermilion State Park for development and public use by completing a master plan and providing immediate day-use opportunities. Acquire 26-acres with 8,000 feet of lake shore located 2 miles west of the city of Alexandria. This will be the first phase of a larger acquisition totaling 136 acres. The property is bisected by the Central Lakes Trail and contains unimproved uplands, high hills, scenic vistas, small wood lots and wetlands.
Restore asphalt surface on the Wobegon Trail. This involves removal of substandard asphalt, repacking and resurfacing of segments of the trail. The section of trail is Albany to Morrison County.
This project constructed a new group camp at Lake Bemidji State Park that features an area for tent camping, an area to accommodate RV units, a large fire ring, and a large screened picnic shelter equipped with electricity.
Complete renewal of the main lakeside campground and construction of a new campground to relieve pressure on existing lakeside campground. New camping areas will open Memorial Day 2011.

This program is to restore acres of state parks and trails land to native plant communities. MS 86A.05 directs PAT to preserve, perpetuate and restore natural features in state parks that were present in the area of the park at the time of European settlement. Approximately 31 restoration projects have been completed, are in progress, or will be implemented in the spring of 2012, at over 20 state park units. These projects total 1,283 acres.
At the LaSalle Lake SRA, this project constructed a day use area (parking, picnic shelter, restrooms, boardwalk to fishing pier), campground vault toilet, carry-in boat landing, and a pedestrian bridge that leads to other recreation features.

The Legacy plan calls this Take Care of What We Have, and identifies its purpose to provide safe, high-quality park and trail experiences by regular re-investment in park and trail infrastructure, and natural resource management.
This project designed a new sugar shack at Maplewood State Park. This sugar shack will provide space for interpretive programming centered on maple syrup sugaring. The Maplewood Friends Group is securing construction funding for this collaborative project.
Redevelopment of McCollough Park including accessible picnic shelter, fishing pier, playground equipment, parking, 1.76 miles of trail, restroom/shower facilities, campground office, new septic system and relocation of the 45 campsites and park entrance.
Picnic shelter, restroom enclosures, ADA Trail, access road safety improvements, renovation of historic pump station, reconstruction of steps and trail for hiking access, interpretive kiosks, improvements to existing disc golf, mountain bike, hiking and cross country skiing trails, storage building, bike lockers, geocaching course and restoration of historic picnicking areas.
Construction of approximately 2 miles of the Mesabi Regional Trail beginning in Soudan at the Brietung Town Hall and ending at the Vermillion State Park entrance road.
