Continue to stabilize and preserve the park reserve?s natural and cultural resources through invasive species control, habitat restoration, respectful siting of features, sustainable construction practices, strategic acquisitions, and stewardship outreach with neighboring landowners. 1. Provide thoughtfully integrated, accessible amenities that welcome a broader range of users into the park reserve, including those who may not feel equipped to explore Miesville Ravine currently. 2.
Design, engineer, and implement improvements throughout the park called for in the Master Plan for Bde Maka Ska and Lake Harriet. These improvements will include a newly rebuilt refectory building, as well as trails, pathways, fishing, and other lake access, shoreline restoration, parking, informational signage, and visitor comfort facilities
Improve trails and construct new trails throughout the park, as guided by the master plan. Natural surface trails and associated bridges, boardwalks, and walls in the glade area are degraded and in need of enhancement. Paved trails in the upper park require rehabilitation in certain areas. Other project work may include visitor comfort facilities such as picnic areas, signs, drinking fountains, roadway crossings, and parking
Continue rehabilitation of Minnehaha Regional Park Pavilion to upgrade public spaces including restrooms, open seating areas, plaza spaces, stairs, ramps, and landscaping. Work will include design, engineering, architecture, and construction.
Design, engineer, and construct rehabilitation projects associated with existing trails, bridges, habitat enhancement, stormwater management and water quality infrastructure, and signage. Projects will be determined through community participation in a master planning process. This funding is a continuation of several years of Parks and Trails Funds dedicated to this project.
The Minnesota River Valley is one of the largest publicly-managed open spaces within a major metropolitan area. Completion of the development of this segment will represent an important milestone in the corridor which is connected to the larger Minnesota Valley State Trail planned by the Minnesota DNR that will travel from Le Sueur to St. Paul
This project will reconstruct an existing 8-foot-wide trail in disrepair by widening the trail width to 10 feet and repaving. Deliverables include a smooth safe trail upon completion. Intended outcomes are to provide a safe, smooth, consistent width on regional trails for user enjoyment
Design, engineer, and implement improvements called for in the 1982 plan for the Bohemian Flats area, and also improve various facilities throughout the park including trails, stairways, walls, and interpretive and wayfinding signs. Continue contracts with Conservation Corps of Minnesota (CCM) to engage youth of the community in natural resource management projects throughout Ramsey County Regional Parks and Trails. *(In 2013 the Conservation Corp of Minnesota (CCM) worked on over 20 different natural resource projects within the Regional Park and Trails System, totaling over 5,900 hours. Of those total hours, approximately, 1,300 hours were assisting high school youth on natural resource projects and environmental education).
