Pop-Out Book Projects with the Minnesota Center for Book Arts
Our goals were to collaborate with others in the process of the project, discover a new art form, feel pride in their personal accomplishment and have a hands-on creative experience.
Collaborate with others in the process of the project: Kids worked together with the workshop leaders, the various adults in attendance, and even helped each other to get the pop-out working correctly. This was a very collaborative program, with lots of sharing and working together. Kids had a chance to see how a plain sheet of paper could quickly become an entire book that enabled them to be creative. Those in attendance were very interested in doing more book art. Everyone who attended got to take home their project and the librarian witnessed several children gleefully showing off their creations. This project was completely hands-on, each child (and some adults) made their very own book, using their preferred colors and paper.
