Jon retired in the fall of 2018 after a 38-year career in parks and recreation. Most recently, he was the Director of Parks and Recreation for Ramsey County. Prior to that, he was the Director of Parks and Recreation for Brooklyn Park. He has also worked for the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board, Anoka County, Eagan, St. Peter, and several mental health organizations working as a therapeutic recreation specialist. He has a bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Parks and Leisure Studies from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Hamline University. Jon hopes the work of the PTLAC will lead to connecting all people to parks and recreation throughout the state. He is spending retirement living in St. Paul enjoying grandchildren, serving his church, and teaching a class at the University of Minnesota.
