Janice is a Tribal member of Bad River Band of Lake Superior Ojibwe. She grew up learning great respect for all land and water, which is the traditional Ojibwe way of life. Janice is a jingle dress dancer and Water Protector. She proudly graduated from Itasca Community College with a Fire Science Degree in Wildland Firefighting. Her internship was in the Chippewa National Forest. Janice currently serves on the Minnesota Governors Council for Lake Superior Coastal Zone. Janice is the Chairwoman of American Indian Advisory School District 833. She is a mentor for Native youth in an amazing project called Our Sacred Water. Janice is grateful and thankful for the opportunities to work together to manage, protect, and preserve our natural resources for future generations. She loves hiking, swimming, agate hunting, powwows, and gathering wild traditional foods and medicines.
