As a core to Como’s mission on education, updating the aging interpretive signage and adding interactive and technology based interpretive and hands-on experiences is important. The cost to develop, design and produce these items is needed for African Hoofstock, Large Cats and the Japanese Gardens. The displays will demonstrate Como Zoo’s commitment to world-wide conservation measures.
Ms Pulkrabek’s students (many of whom have never been in a metropolitan area) will experience the arts by visiting museums and theaters in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul metropolitan area.

Funding for an Indonesian performing arts residency at Lake Country Montessori School in Minneapolis involving students in grades 4 to 6 in gamelan music, traditional dance, and shadow puppetry. The residency will occur in 2012.
Funding to present The Nutcracker, an original full-length production by Denise Vogt. Performances will take place at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center in December 2011.
Funding for the Minneapolis Jewish Film Festival, an annual event presenting feature films, documentaries, and shorts from around the world on themes of Jewish culture and identity. The festival will take place at Sabes Jewish Community Center in April 20
MNHS Press will publish a book showcasing MNHS' extensive collections of bandolier bags made and worn by several North American Indian tribes around the Great Lakes. The book will include a tour of Minnesota's seven Ojibwe reservations, showing bags associated with each area, and profiles of master beadworkers who provide personal insights into the work.

Funding for the first annual Midtown Global Jazz Festival, featuring a lineup of global Jazz genres, art vendors, ethnic food, and an educational stage. The festival will take place in July 2011 outside the Midtown Global Market in Minneapolis.
