Pangea World Theater, along with the Lao Assistance Center and Intermedia Arts Minnesota, will bring TeAda Production's Refugee Nation theater performance to the Twin Cities, an acclaimed interdisciplinary/multimedia presentation that explores the impact of war, refugees, global politics and U. S. citizenship.
Pillsbury House Theatre and the Pillsbury House Neighborhood Center will work together to integrate arts learning into five of the non-arts community programs, reaching people ages 20 months to 50 years.
Riverside Concerts, Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestra, and Honors Choir of Southeast Minnesota will bus 5,000 fourth and fifth graders from across southeastern Minnesota to educational youth concerts at the Mayo Civic Center on 4/21/2011; teachers will receive an advance study guide to prepare students for the concerts.
AchieveMpls, in partnership with MacPhail Center for Music, Children's Theatre Company, and Givens Foundation for African American Literature, will expand arts learning opportunities for 750 pre K-7 Minneapolis Public School students through programs that enhance the school curriculum and positively impact student learning.
Wilder Foundation will provide arts learning for elders and adults with disabilities living at Ravoux, a Saint Paul Public Housing hi-rise, and to elders with dementia in its memory loss program by collaborating with Kairos Dance Theatre and the Women's Drum Center.
The Minneapolis Pops Orchestra will perform five free concerts for seniors during July 2010: Four coffee concerts at the Nicollet Island Pavilion, with listeners bused in from Twin Cities' senior activity centers; and a neighborhood concert in Elliot Park.
The Twin Cities Elder Choir mobilizes and celebrates the voices of Minnesota's seniors, engaging new audiences and building understanding through performances by an artistically ambitious, 50-voice chorus organized in collaboration with the MacPhail Center and residential care facilities across the Twin Cities.
Funding for the formation and training of a volunteer hospice choir. Activities include weekly rehearsals and visits to area hospice centers between January and May 2011.
Heartland Democracy will partner with Commonbond’s Skyline Tower’s Teen Program to engage a cohort of teenagers who are primarily Somali- and Ethiopian-American in the Empowering U program—discovering their own motivation to engage in civic affairs, along with the tools to do so.
The Otter Tail-Wadena Community Action Council will partner with the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center to bring 200 underserved adults into participation in the arts in Wadena and Otter Tail Counties of Minnesota.
Musical theater collaboration with Sounds of Hope, Ltd. 233 adults with developmental disabilities will use theater, music, and dance to bridge differences and broaden arts participation. Transportation to rehearsal space at MacPhail Center for Music will introduce clients to a new arts resource.
Multiple theatrical and dance performances for young men in the Gang Reduction and Intervention program as well as kids from the youth center will attend performances: Four Little Girls of Birmingham (SteppingStone) m, Barrio Grrrrl (CTC) , STOMP (Ordway), and the Political Theater Festival with Teatro del Pueblo (location tba).
The goal of the Montessori Language Nest is to engage young children and their families in strengthening their cultural wellness through language acquisition and revitalization of cultural parenting/child rearing practices. This will be accomplished through short and long term goals, measure through objectives to produced the intended outcomes.
The Minnesota Historical Society brought the only traveling copy of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights to Minnesota in the exhibit, "We the People: The First Official Printing of the U.S. Constitution" on view at the Minnesota History Center April 3 – July 4, 2012. The exhibit featured a rare, early version of the U.S. Constitution, published in 1787, and an even more rare draft of the Bill of Rights, along with original editions of the two state of Minnesota Constitutions.
Funding for interactive visual arts workshops for Cambodian-American women artists that will culminate in an exhibition. The exhibition will take place in Minneapolis in late 2011 to early 2012.
