Our legacy project will be free stage presentations throughout the fair August 2-6, 2023. We will have a mixture of Minnesota bands and youth education with a raptor presentation.
Stearns County continues to grow in diversity especially with our Hispanic community. We have had numerous requests to include a Hispanic band as a part of our free stage entertainment. We would like to hire them for our Friday Evening Free Stage.
The Koochiching County Fair will feature two Minnesota-based bands. Performances are open and free to the public. The kids tractor pull will also be featured and free to the participants.
"So Hot Glass", glass blowing artist, educational and interactive presentations (6 daily) to entertain fairgoers with the beauty and skill of glasswork.
We would like to hire an agricultural educational magician to perform Friday and Saturday of our fair. Rick fiedlier and Eric Reitan will also perform. The remainder of our funds will be to host our horse and pony pull demonstrations.
This project will create additional arts programming to extend a pilot project with some new adjustments. Funding will 1) create additional workshop programming for in-person art class workshops; 2) help to expand into offering a set of new virtual workshops with accompanying art tool kits for students; 3) host a community style art activity table during local events and market.
Dakota Wicohan will hire a consultant to 1) sustain success and growth; 2) train and empower staff; 3) foster leadership from within the community; 4) prepare for future challenges and opportunities.
To hire qualified professionals to repair the drill hall floor in the Duluth Armory, listed in the National Register of Historic Places and home of the Armory Arts and Music Center.
This project will create a new, ongoing program that would publish the work of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated writers. The books published by the micro-press would allow audiences to see these writers first not as criminals but as innovative, gifted artists with a valuable perspective to add to the discourse.
This project will help support the creation of a digital exhibit, lesson plan, and public event, that explores the role of the infamous Black abolitionist, minister, and community leader, Moses Dickson, in leading formerly enslaved people to freedom, via Underground Railroad locations in Minnesota.
To hire a qualified historian to complete an evaluation to determine eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places for the George Metcalf property in Afton.
