Our legacy project will be free stage presentations throughout the fair August 2-6, 2023. We will have a mixture of Minnesota bands and youth education with a raptor presentation.

Tent rental for our free Minnesota entertainers including a Minnesota balloon artist, a country band, and a rock band.

Stearns County continues to grow in diversity especially with our Hispanic community. We have had numerous requests to include a Hispanic band as a part of our free stage entertainment. We would like to hire them for our Friday Evening Free Stage.

The Koochiching County Fair will feature two Minnesota-based bands. Performances are open and free to the public. The kids tractor pull will also be featured and free to the participants.

Bring Minnesota performers to our fair. They will provide entertainment for our fairgoers to show off what Minnesota has to offer.

Just 4 Laffs consisting of clowning comedy, magic shows, balloon tying artistry, educational games and activities.

"So Hot Glass", glass blowing artist, educational and interactive presentations (6 daily) to entertain fairgoers with the beauty and skill of glasswork.

The fair plans to incorporate the following Legacy Projects into our 2024 Fair:

We will bring in performers for the country fair. Each one of the performers will be from Minnesota.

A performance by the Minnesota band "The Fabulous Armadillos" will be great for all to listen to.

We will have local bands entertain our fairgoers.

We would like to hire an agricultural educational magician to perform Friday and Saturday of our fair. Rick fiedlier and Eric Reitan will also perform. The remainder of our funds will be to host our horse and pony pull demonstrations.

To create 15 Beltrami County entries for the MNopedia project for online research.

To create a finding aid for a historically significant collection of sermons, which will allow greater public access to this resource.

This project will create additional arts programming to extend a pilot project with some new adjustments. Funding will 1) create additional workshop programming for in-person art class workshops; 2) help to expand into offering a set of new virtual workshops with accompanying art tool kits for students; 3) host a community style art activity table during local events and market.

This project includes new exhibit components and enhancements to help educate youth and expand outreach.

To design, produce, and install two historical markers at Curtiss Field, City of Falcon Heights.

Dakota Wicohan will hire a consultant to 1) sustain success and growth; 2) train and empower staff; 3) foster leadership from within the community; 4) prepare for future challenges and opportunities.

To hire qualified professionals to publish a book on the history of Northfield Public Schools.

To hire a professional web developer to develop an interactive web application about traditional Dakota cultural and medicinal plants.

To assess and better organize the archival collections held by Caponi Art Park.

To digitize a collection of video recordings of Monticello football games, allowing for greater public access to this historic resource.

To digitize part of a large collection of photo negatives, allowing for greater public access to this historic resource.

To digitize a collection of diaries and sketchbooks, allowing for greater public access to these historic resources.

To hire qualified professionals to repair the drill hall floor in the Duluth Armory, listed in the National Register of Historic Places and home of the Armory Arts and Music Center.

To hire a qualified consultant to write Phase II of an interpretive plan for Edina Historical Society.

To provide better organization of archival materials, allowing for greater public access to the community's historic resources.

This project will create a new, ongoing program that would publish the work of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated writers. The books published by the micro-press would allow audiences to see these writers first not as criminals but as innovative, gifted artists with a valuable perspective to add to the discourse.

This project will help support the creation of a digital exhibit, lesson plan, and public event, that explores the role of the infamous Black abolitionist, minister, and community leader, Moses Dickson, in leading formerly enslaved people to freedom, via Underground Railroad locations in Minnesota.

To hire a qualified historian to complete an evaluation to determine eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places for the George Metcalf property in Afton.

To hire qualified technicians to upgrade Goodhue County Historical Society's lighting system.

To document in video footage the history of the Great Dakota Gathering.
