This program aims to meet emerging and unique project needs in the Minnesota State Parks and Trails system. The program has initiated activities around Buffalo herd management and has plans for other activities to be determined.
Design, engineering, construction, and construction administration of recreational, interpretation, natural resource, and cultural resource improvements, improve access to the Mississippi River Greenway, Mississippi River, park trails, and other park resources.
Completion of Phase 2 of development of the lakefront area of Spring Lake Regional Park, including development of trail, a fishing pier, parking lot, passive picnic areas, entrance driveway, fishing platforms, lakeside observation deck, trails, landscaping, storm water management, and utilities
Project activities include design and engineering of a lakefront development area and phase one construction, construction administration and other related construction costs for trails, fishing pier, parking, passive picnic area, entrance road and restrooms. The design phase of this project will include a community engagement process that will incorporate methods to involve and get feedback from individuals from population segments under-represented by the regional park system as a whole as well as segments underserved in Scott County

At Bald Eagle-Otter Lakes Regional Park start construction of two-acre nature play area and one-acre children's garden (including garden house for multi-purpose programs) at Tamarack Nature Center. Group camps provide an opportunity for groups to camp together outside the traditional campground. Group camps are used by scout groups, church groups, social groups, and families. A need has been identified to add amenities to rustic group camps, such as electrical hookups, a picnic shelter, and in some instances, modern sanitation facilities.
Provide trail rehabilitation and renewal on state park and forest trails, these are primarily non-motorized trails which due to funding priorities, have not had any significant maintenance for many years. This effort has provided a means to start addressing these trail needs and in doing so working on the most critical first. This has resulted in trail renewal work in 19 state forests and 15 state parks providing for more sustainable trails and better public safety and enjoyment.
This program funds unpredictable maintenance expenditures in State Parks such as storm damage, waterline repair, electrical system repair, erosion repair, utility system repair, and small site improvements.
