This project is for the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) that are effective at abating nonpoint source sediment runoff and E. coli to impaired waterbodies within the Plum Creek Watershed. BMPs will include on farm practices such as no-till farming and cover crops as well as structural practices within the watershed which includes 24 Water and Sediment Control Basins (WASCOB), 8 grade stabilization structures, and 2 miles of streambank stabilization monitoring. Implementation practices in this plan will work toward achieving water quality standards for both TSS and E.

Pollinators play a key role in ecosystem function and in agriculture, including thousands of native plants and more than one hundred U.S. crops that either need or benefit from pollinators. However, pollinators are in dramatic decline in Minnesota and throughout the country. The causes of the decline are not completely understood, but identified factors include loss of nesting sites, fewer flowers, increased disease, and increased pesticide use. Developing an aware, informed citizenry that understands this issue is one key to finding and implementing solutions to counteract these factors.
Continuing pollinator habitat creation and enhancement on 11 sites from Lakeville to St. Cloud, with public engagement and education centered on youth, schools, and community awareness of natural resource stewardship.
To partner with the Scott County Historical Society to co-design a mobile recording booth big enough to house high-quality recording equipment, a table and seating for 2-4 people, and create a Best Practices manual on collecting oral histories. The booth would include a ramp and wide door and table for ADA accessibility. Scott County Fair will pilot the first round of interviews during the fair, and support the Historical Society to implement plans to manage the collection of stories, train volunteers to staff the booth, and conduct transcription.
This program will acquire 1,100 acres of state wildlife management areas (WMA) or federal waterfowl production areas (WPA) to enhance grassland and prairie habitat and provide public recreation opportunities for the citizens of Minnesota. In addition, PF restore an additional 1,500 acres of grassland habitat on permanently protected lands (WPA's or WMA's).
This program will protect 900 acres of priority prairie grassland, wetland habitat, and native remnant prairie (if available) as state wildlife management areas (WMA). In addition, acquired lands will be restored and/or enhanced to prairie and/or wetland habitat. Once complete, these WMAs will provide quality grassland/wetland habitat complexes that will benefit a myriad of game and non-game species and will provide public recreational opportunities for the citizens of Minnesota.
Prepare Blakeley Bluffs Park Reserve Acquisition Master Plan. A? This project would identify the proposed boundary for a 2,000 acre park reserve. The project would be conducted in partnership with stakeholders including local landowners, the Ney Nature Center, MN DNR, and US Fish and Wildlife.
To preserve the 1915 one room schoolhouse on the Redwood County fairgrounds by repairing windows, doors, stucco exterior, and replacement of the cupola on the roof.
We propose to integrate Minnesota Wildflowers Information, an online tool for plant identification, with the Minnesota Biodiversity Atlas, to preserve and extend this popular ENTRF-supported resource for future use.
This project helps Minnesota entities that directly or indirectly cause PFAS and microplastics contamination stop the flow of the contaminants by developing strategies to manage solid waste streams.
This project is a cooperative initiative between the Prior Lake Spring Lake Watershed District, the City of Prior Lake, and the Scott Soil and Water Conservation District to implement on-the-ground Best Management Practices (BMPs) that will protect and improve water quality in Spring, Upper Prior and Lower Prior Lakes, water resources of local, regional, and state significance. Spring and Upper Prior Lakes are both impaired and have a completed Total Maximum Daily Load and Implementation Plan.
Regional public projects that are the focus of the proposed project include: Infiltration areas and a sedimentation pond enhancement in subwatersheds N3/N4; Parking lot storm drain rain gardens and a sedimentation pond enlargement in subwatersheds N5/N6; An infiltration area and a sedimentation pond enhancement in subwatersheds S9/S11; Ditch checks along Highway 13 in subwatershed 10.
