Ka Joog requests funding from the Minnesota Humanities Center to offer songwriting and composition to Somali American youth enrolled in FANKA, our arts education program. We will contract with Nimcaan Hilaac, a renowned Somali American songwriter, singer, and composer. We will offer 210-300 Somali youth in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Saint Cloud songwriting workshops facilitated by Mr. Hilaac. Their learning will culminate in a community-wide event featuring performances by our youth.

Hire well driller to investigate placement of alternative drinking water source

Install well submersible level transducer and solar panel to monitor well static and pumping levels.

Seal three wells within the DWSMA; erect and maintain wellhead protection area signs at the DWSMA boundaries.

Install variable frequency drive on well 2 to control pump rate and pressure in water system.

Nutrient Management Stategies to reduce nitrate reaching the aquifer, public education and well sealing.

Sponsor MSW Festival. Educate community on SWP, WHP and water conservation.

Seal old water well adjacent to Power Plant. Purchase of 3 spill contaminant kits.

Seal a 6" -140' deep well.

Replace a shallow driven well (Sandpoint) well with a drilled well.

Seal abandoned irrigation well. Prepare a wellhead newsletter.

Implement St Cloud Storm Drain Art program. Implement second year of the Adopt-a-Drain program.

Continuation of the engineering and hydrogeotech analysis for site selection alternatives for test wells and future production well.

Investigate potential sites for a future water supply well. Test drill and test pump site to confirm site suitability. Sample water quality.
