Implement cover crops, no tillage management, forestry improvements, and prescribed grazing to improve soil health, sequester carbon, and protect drinking water within the southwestern portion of the Mississippi River-Sartell watershed, including areas immediate upsteam of the St. Cloud drinking water surface intake. This will be achieved by providing financial and technical assistance paired with targeted outreach and in combination with other CWF grant programs.

The purpose of this project is to provide a new shared position in southeast Minnesota which will accelerate the adoption of soil health practices by leveraging the existing efforts of the National Resources Conservation Service and other organizations.

The Somali Museum of Minnesota will curate and present two new monthly series of public programs designed to amplify, celebrate, and preserve Somali culture. The first series will be gallery-based and draw from the museum’s collection to offer Somali language, cultural and history instruction targeted to Somali families and school age youth. The second series, designed for a broader audience, will present artist talks and demonstrations, dance performances, exhibitions, and poetry readings.

Unite Cloud will join with Farhiya Iman to host 12 Intro to Somali Language and Culture sessions. Also, Farhiya will develop a curriculum for a new class: Advanced Somali Language and Culture. Once the class is built, we will host 9 Advanced classes.

Ka Joog requests funding from the Minnesota Humanities Center to offer songwriting and composition to Somali American youth enrolled in FANKA, our arts education program. We will contract with Nimcaan Hilaac, a renowned Somali American songwriter, singer, and composer. We will offer 210-300 Somali youth in Minneapolis, Saint Paul, and Saint Cloud songwriting workshops facilitated by Mr. Hilaac. Their learning will culminate in a community-wide event featuring performances by our youth.

Hire well driller to investigate placement of alternative drinking water source

Install well submersible level transducer and solar panel to monitor well static and pumping levels.

Seal three wells within the DWSMA; erect and maintain wellhead protection area signs at the DWSMA boundaries.

Provide WHP education to 4th grade students at Water Festival and host a Nitrate Testing Clinic

Nutrient Management Stategies to reduce nitrate reaching the aquifer, public education and well sealing.

Create, Publish, and Mail article; Install software

Purchase storage unit and equipment to secure a possible spill site.

Sponsor MSW Festival. Educate community on SWP, WHP and water conservation.

Seal old water well adjacent to Power Plant. Purchase of 3 spill contaminant kits.

Seal a 6" -140' deep well.

Replace a shallow driven well (Sandpoint) well with a drilled well.

Drill test well

Seal abandoned irrigation well. Prepare a wellhead newsletter.

Drill out debris and prep for sealing of an old railroad well. Seal well if funds remain.

Implement St Cloud Storm Drain Art program. Implement second year of the Adopt-a-Drain program.

Assess the condition of the SSTS and provide necessary maintenance.
