The project goal is to assist the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) with meeting the objectives of the Surface Water Assessment Grant (SWAG) to conduct field and water chemistry monitoring at MPCA specified lake sampling locations and stream locations. This will be accomplished by collecting water samples at seven lake sites and eight streams in the Kettle and Upper St. Croix Watersheds, as well as compiling and submitting the required data, information and reports.

The scope of the work includes conducting invasive species removal, prairie, oak savanna and forest restorations, oak wilt management, seeding, plantings, additional building and grounds maintenance, tree/shrub removal, debris removal, sign installation, river cleanup/obstruction removal, and public outreach/education about natural resource management.

Ojibwe language instruction and integrated curriculum provide a strong cultural base for core academic offerings and support services at Nawayee Center School. Nawayee also offers students opportunities to participate in sweat lodges, naming ceremonies and language tables. These cultural activities, which also attract parents and other adults in the community, complement the school day curriculum.
Phase II of the NCHS Archival Collections Storage Project
180 cubic feet of historic records documenting Nicollet County history, located in the archival collections storage area, were re-cataloged, re-housed and re-shelved. The process has served to condense the collections freeing up space for future storage and has made the storage space itself more safe, efficient and professional.
MNHS and the Wilder Foundation worked together to provide greater access and awareness of MNHS resources to St. Paul neighborhoods through the Wilder Foundation's Neighborhood Leadership Program (NLP). NLP is a six-month training program that has been supported by the Wilder Foundation for the past 20 years with nearly 800 program alumni. The purpose of NLP is to help existing and emerging leaders take action to improve their community. This year 29 people were accepted to the NLP program.

During each six-month program, 25 participants explored neighborhood involvement and developed leadership skills to take effective community action.

The Minnesota Historical Society is partnering with the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation to continue the Neighborhood Leadership Program, an initiative that develops leadership skills of community members to take effective action.
Through ACHF funding, the program agenda has been expanded to include sessions integrating historical resources, lessons and visits to the Minnesota History Center, providing participants with greater access and awareness of the Society's resources.
To re-install the historic steam-powered log carrier to the J.Neil's/Red Lake Indian Sawmill, a historically significant industrial artifact in northern Minnesota
The grant was used to hire a qualified contractor through a competitive bidding process to construct a protective overhead canopy in order to preserve the J. Neils/Red Lake (Ojibwe Nation) Sawmill and equipment.
Upon completion of the Nelson Slough project, wildlife managers will be able to more effectively manage flood waters to reduce "bounce", thereby improving habitat conditions for nesting and migrating waterfowl and other wetland wildlife on this nearly 2,482-acre impoundment. This goal will be achieved through
