Using the Arts in a effort create art related to African American History and Culture.
30,000 feet will serve Over 600 youth and 20 community artist between FY 24 and 25 will participate in arts residencies rooted in African American History and Culture.
some of the art residencies will include:
1. Short stories illustration: Students will practice review books made by their peers from
the after school program to help with reading comprehension by adding illustrations to
the short stories.
2. Music making: Students will add lyrics and sounds to the previous sound curated from
the beat making class from the fall
3. Tik tok series: students will view old 30k content to remix and recreate literacy
challenges from fall Tik tok class
4. Break dancing: students will practice teamwork and spacial awareness by learning
various break dance techniques
5. DJ: students will learn how to create a dj mix with a list of popular inspiring songs to
share with their peers on a radio station.
6. Studio recording: students will record their version of a inspirational song or a song of
their own.
7. Sculpture creation students will create a sculpture that represents black joy out of
recycled materials.
8. Mural making: students will create a memorial mural dedicated to black youth who lost
their lives to senseless violence.
$75,000.00 the first year and $75,000.00 the second year are for a grant to 30,000 Feet, a nonprofit organization, to help youth and community artists further develop their artistic skills, to create community art and artistic performances, and to promote and share African American history and culture through the arts.
30,000 Feet will know if it is successful if these metrics are hit:
Increase access to arts and cultural programming for underserved youth in East
Saint Paul by doubling programming - offering 30 Artist Residencies annually.
Serve 600 youth annually through arts programming
This will happen with this grant specifically.
Artist will feel more confident in their teaching artist abilities and working in youth settings.
Youth Will will feel more confident in their artistic abilities post participation in the art residencies.
Adult and Youth artist will gain more experiences in regards to live community performances.
A public mural with on the building of 30,000 Feel location focused on African American History and Culture will done by Artist and Youth Collaboration.
