Project Details
Four Day residency with 4 classes being taught each day. One class will focus on drawing expressive portraits, another drawing grid portraits with focus on shading, and a still life painting class. Additionally each day there will be an hour where students will schedule one on one time.

Learning Goals: Students will learn that drawing (sketching) is the foundation to a painting and will learn all steps in creating a visual art piece from beginning to end. Students learn about techniques in visual art (how to apply paint and why). Students will learn about using and handling materials. Students learn that revision can happen along the way but correct as soon as possible. Students will see the value of the process of creating a piece of visual art and develop an interest to repeat.Evidence of Learning: Students are able to name different steps it took to create their visual art piece. Students can name different techniques in which they applied paint and why and what brushes and effort created what technique. Students can name different techniques they used in drawing their portrait and what tools create what effect. Students show when creating how to handle the materials and able to name why. Students name revisions they made along the way and why. Students name that they will have confidence to attempt process again on their own and describe how.
