We understand the success of the project by assessing the following:
1) Was the research completed according to what was proposed in the grant?
a. Yes, according to the original grant, our goal was to gather accurate research on each decade of the organization's existence. A theme for each decade was identified. We used the following categories to organize the research for each decade: Researcher Narrative, Evocative Story, Engaging or Influential Person, Clear Conflict, and Sources.
2) Are the categories user friendly and accessible for actors and divisors to utilize?
a. Yes, the research is accessible to actors online. The research is located on the Sod House website and can be used at any time by artistic staff, crew and performers.
b. Photos and links are located in the research for further exploration and inspiration.
3) Has a plan been developed to use the research to create the performance?
a. Yes, mid-May of 2022, Sod House co-artistic directors will conduct a 9 hour, 2-day workshop with Duluth based actors in collaboration with Mary Fox, Renegade Theater Artistic Director and are in conversation with Hayes Scriven regarding performing on the site of Split Rock.
We will understand the success of the future production by assessing the following:
1) Knowledge of the history of The Split Rock Lighthouse
2) Enjoyment level of the site-specific, immersive production
3) Number of attendees
4) Success of collaboration with partners Split Rock LightHouse and Renegade Theater
We'll measure the 4 goals above by using Audience surveys distributed after each performance that will include 5-6 questions on Split Rock Lighthouse and the production. Follow-up Debrief with Collaborators using 4-5 questions about the collaboration focusing on what went well and what didn't and if we feel this was a mutually beneficial collaboration. Data gathering will compile the numbers of artists participating in performances; tickets sold; shows performed; and locations that audience members come from. This will ensure that we are able to report on the project outcomes and support internal project assessment and future planning.
