Project Overview

To increase arts and cultural heritage programming at the Southwest St Louis County Fair. Professional artist Brian Jarvi, the first to win both the Minnesota Duck and Pheasant contest in consecutive years, will be an artist in residency during the fair. Reenactments of fur trading, fur trapping, and camp life will also be available to visitors. The Fond Du Lac reservation will provide demonstrations on basket weaving, canoe building, traditional wild rice processing, Native American dance, and have a master gardener display native foods and talk about foods we eat today that were first cultivated by Native Americans. Funds will also be used to purchase a portable sound system for these events, install track lighting for exhibits, and restore a hand hewn log building, which will be used as an encampment.
