Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

My goals are to : 1. Learn the traditional techniques of drawing the human figure with modern materials in a classical manner and understand his specific methodology of preparing his paper and particular application of materials. 2. To better understand the human figure and how to better create the illusion of dimension within space. While anyone can draw a representation of people, how do we create a convincing drawing, one that appears to move in space? How do we create a drawing that appears to walk off the page, or turn in space? 3. Learn how I may apply this approach in future drawings, possible oil paintings, and other media or as a stand-alone technique. Having experimented with other ?old-world? mediums of metalpoint and egg tempera, I am curious to see new possibilities with his methods and techniques. 4. Improve my drawing aesthetic. Underlying all of these aspirations, my main goal is to learn to draw more beautifully. I will know that I have been successful based upon the following: 1. Completion of the course and feedback from the instructor. 2. Experimenting with the materials. As in most cases, art is a process of experimentation combined with trial and error. Only through hands-on experimentation can we learn how to use materials and explore new possibilities. 3. Feedback from the instructor, other students, and the faculty at Great Lakes Academy of Fine Art. Working in community is one of the best learning tools. As artists working together, we are able to compare our work to one another and provide feedback and insight on our work. 4. When compared to my existing work, I hope to see a marked improvement as well as the ability to apply new knowledge and skills after the workshop.
