Small Grant
I am seeking funding for upfront costs of creating a collection of tapestries for a gallery show.
ACHF Arts Access
I have been a working artist in Grand Marais for the past four years. While I have participated in markets and juried art shows in Duluth before, this longer-term display of my work will be an important opportunity to share my work with more people outside of the small town I reside in. Thus my overall goal for this show is to create a collection of excellent, well-made, beautiful tapestry weavings that will represent my work well to a new audience. Beyond sharing my own work with this audience, I also hope to expose more people to the art of modern tapestry in general, particularly its accessibility, novelty, and the exciting creative and artistic possibilities it holds. The specific outcomes I will achieve are: - Complete the agreed upon number of artworks (15) - Deliver them by the date agreed upon with the gallery (April 1) - As part of the show, create a small display about how tapestries are made, to educate the visiting public about the process of tapestry weaving I will be successful if I complete the agreed upon number of weavings (15) by April 1, install them in the Enger Lofts Building in Duluth as agreed with the gallery manager, and complete a small educational display about tapestry weaving to be shown with the work itself. The work will then be on display from April to June of 2024.
