Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Having this new dance floor as part of our technical equipment will attract more professional companies that we have not be able to attract. We expect to attract 2 new dance performances per year that would have an average of 100 children and 300 adults at each performance. We expect to provide public performance opportunities to an average of 20 dancers per performance, or 40 for the year (new performers). Another outcome is the expansion of our service to our arena of local arts organizations that the Paramount serves. We exist, in part, to serve the 20+ local arts organizations that perform here every year. Providing the equipment that is needed in order for those organizations to be able to present their work is part of our mission. If this funding is secured, we will be able to seek professional dance companies, none of whom travel with a floor, to the Paramount for the 2014-2015 season. Bookings for that season start in November of 2013, after all of the local companies have been given their dates. We will know if the outcome has been achieved by the results of whether or not we were able to attract these dance companies to our stage. We also already know that the three companies that use our stage - two of whom dance without a floor at all - will be thrilled with this addition. We will be able to measure this by speaking with the companies. Continental Ballet in St Paul, Metropolitan Ballet in Minneapolis, and the Minnesota Ballet out of Duluth have all expressed an interest in renting the Paramount stage to do performances. But none of them own a floor that they can travel with, and they can't do a performance on the hard wood floor that we now have.

Measurable Outcome(s)

One specific outcome was the money saved by our local dance organizations who no longer have to rent a dance floor in order to perform here. A second outcome was that now certain local dance companies, who don't have the money to rent a floor, will no longer have to dance on our hard plywood floor. A final outcome is that, starting with 2014-2015 season, we will possibly be able to attract larger name touring dance companies who require a padded, high quality dance floor before they will consider performing in a venue. We are now able to say that we own one. For the 14-15 season, we are looking at the Moscow Ballet's Swan Lake, and Continental Ballet's Giselle.
