Project Details
Perrin Boyd, a professional educator in the areas of creative movement, theater and clowning will provide a week-long residency with Wadena-Deer Creek 1st grade students, culminating in a performance for their families and for the Kindergarten students at the school.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

100% of 1st grade students will participate in daily 1 hour sessions with the artist learning creative movement and expression during the week-long residency. 100% of first grade students will create a written journal illustrating the skills they are learning. 100% of first grade students will demonstrate the skills they learned through their performance of a short skit at the end of the week.The proposed outcomes will be evaluated by teacher and artist observations of the students. Students will self-assess their progress by communicating both orally and in written form the new skills they are learning. The final evaluation of the project will be the Friday performance for families and kindergarten students. The positive reaction of the audience will be a measure of the successful achievement of the creative movement and communication skills the students learned.

Successful arts education project. Majority of students showed an increase in artistic awareness, skill, and understanding.
