Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

“Regional artists connect to new audiences and/or build relationships that provide artistic growth. “Until fall of 2018 my art has primarily only been experienced and shared within the Upper Sioux community. I was pleased with my first experience interacting with an outside arts organization, the Granite Area Arts Council, when I exhibited with them last fall. Through this initial contact I have been introduced to other area artists working in public art. It has allowed me the opportunity to work on community mural projects, painted pianos, and installation art that still welcomes my skills as a native artist but also allows me to expand my knowledge and abilities into other art forms and ways of supporting local communities. This would be my first year attending the Rural Arts and Culture Summit. My understanding is there is a vast educational opportunity and a connection opportunity with in this event. I hope this allows more opportunities to connect and understand the ability my art has to enrich my own community and my neighbors and to develop me as a stronger equipped community artist. I believe I will know I have achieved my outcomes by comparing and contrasting the quality in breadth of my work prior to the RAC engagement and post. It will be clear if my opportunities and ways to seek them in public art are expanded by the education and connection of this event. I hope to see more opportunities to create art spaces and aesthetically pleasing visuals in multiple communities after this event and learning of ways that other artist fund and receive support for such projects. I’ve been involved in two public projects in the past year and will hope and know my goals achieved if I can achieve three projects in the next year.
