Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The primary goal of the camp is to provide a venue and music so that in the short span of one week, participants will improve their playing skills and renew their love of music and playing as a group in a fun creative atmosphere. For younger, less experienced players, one of the goals is to to deliver a meaningful ensemble experience for developing young musicians. They learn that if the orchestra is going to sound good, everyone must work together harmoniously towards a single goal - the final performance. For RLCO members, the camp renews our enthusiasm for our weekly practices throughout the year that prepare us for concerts throughout the year. At the completion of the camp, the participants will improve their musical playing skills, and will leave with a refreshed state of mind. For the community, the goal is to provide local and affordable opportunity for community members of all ages to hear fine classical and traditional music from local and visiting musicians. The number of participants ( both returning and new) and the size of our audience at the final concert are the major indicators of the success of the project. Positive comments from participants and audience are also indicators. Evaluation forms asking for feedback on venues, choice of music, accommodations, improvements and best practices will be utilized.

Measurable Outcome(s)

The goal of Strings Camp has always been to increase the skills of area and guest musicians and to perform a concert for the community. With the pandemic RLCO lost several key musicians who have not been able to cross the border from Canada to play with the orchestra. This has required a smaller number of members to stretch themselves to compensate and continue to provide quality performances. Three new members have joined the orchestra and we continue to recruit area residents who play strings to become active.
