The residency will result in the creation of a very unique giant moose lantern puppet. This puppet will be of an impressive scale, fitted with moving appendages, and internal, battery-operated lights. It will be the face of many future Minnesota events, performances, festivals, and parades. Creation of this icon will represent collaborative efforts of many artists of differing backgrounds to emulate a native Minnesota animal and encourage its real-life preservation. The project will incite new networks, resources, creativity, and skills for years to come. Measurable outcomes will be obtained through written feedback requested from workshop leaders, artists, and the public. We will count adult and child attendance and participation at the Stoney Point Procession. Social media will heighten communications and exposure by reaching a worldwide online audience. Response will be measured in likes, comments, and sharing. Networking and publicity will be achieved through Instagram, Threads, Facebook, and Messaging. Jay Gabler and Wyatt Buechner of Duluth News Tribune Northlandia will be contacted for media and newspaper articles. Documentation by photos and films will be shared through social media, print news, television broadcast and other forms of the press. Audience views, likes, comments and shares will indicate interest and appeal of the project. Continued use and exposure for community events will be evidence of the sustainability and popularity of our giant illuminated moose
