Redeye Watershed Based Implmentation Funding
To help fulfill the LWR1W1P, Level Two actions from the plan will be funded with this grant. Most of the action include a variety of non-structural BMPs for crop, pasture, and forest land (examples include cover crops, nutrient management plans, grazing plans, forest stewardship plans, and an enhanced buffer). In addition, structural practices, such as fencing plus watering facilities and precision agriculture, will be implemented. At least one landowner for each forest stand improvement and a feedlot improvement will receive cost share. Projects, both structural and non-structural, will primarily be targeted using goals 1: Land Management, 2: Nitrogen Management, and 4: Bacteria Reduction in the LWR1W1P. Education and outreach will follow the Redeye Media Campaign. Technical assistance will be used for assistance with projects and project development will be used to help locate and persuade landowners to participate. Completed projects will be mapped onto a single map for reporting and tracking. Lastly, administration and coordination accounts for about 7% of the budget to organize meetings and track expenditures.

(Watershed Based Implementation Funding)(a) $13,591,000 the first year and $13,375,000 the second year are for performance-based grants with multiyear implementation plans to local government units. The grants may be used to implement projects that protect, enhance, and restore surface water quality in lakes, rivers, and streams; protect groundwater from degradation; and protect drinking water sources. Projects must be identified in a comprehensive watershed plan developed under the One Watershed, One Plan or metropolitan surface water management frameworks or groundwater plans. Grant recipients must identify a nonstate match and may use other legacy funds to supplement projects funded under this paragraph.
Reduce phosphorus by about 570lbs, sediment by about 2505 tons, and nitrogen by about 4568lbs. See attached supplemental information for additional details about measurable outcomes.
