ACHF Arts Access
As a result of being involved in planning this community mural, students and residents will experience a renewed feeling of community, creativity, and pride in their community. Regional artists will learn and document the process and implementation of designing and completing a public mural. Regional artists will build relationships and learn to engage, educate, and work with community on a community-based art project. Community focus groups, students, and artists will take a post-survey to measure the progress towards our goals indicating an increased connectivity to the community of Lamberton, increased participation in community arts events, knowledge of outdoor community murals, pride in community, hope for the future, increased connections to art and artists in the community, and expanded and improved work and creativity methods.
This grant enabled our Art Gallery board to come together and discuss the Gallery's Vision, Mission and goals within our community. It is difficult to measure the impact of art; I can only relay the look of surprise and awe when community members came into the space and realize that we are developing a beautiful space in our town - one that inspires! This endeavor catalyzed other organizations; we saw a chain reaction of activity in the Madison Arts Council, the Lac Qui Parle Players and in individual artists. We realize that our Gallery has spurred other artists and artisans to action.
