ACHF Arts Access
This grant will help me obtain my growth as an artist. I will have the professional supplies to bring my art to a new level. I will take my art more seriously and paint weekly. I like so many different styles and mediums. I feel like this year I will spend the time trying to find out what direction I want to go towards. I paint from very realistic to abstract. Having all the various supplies will help me try various mediums and styles. By having a abundance of supplies such as canvases I will be prone to try new approaches to my artwork and not feel like every thing has to be perfect. I would have more freedom to experiment and develop as an artist. I would also like to try painting outdoors. I want to be a serious artist and create art consistently. I want to get into the habit of always having an art project or projects that I am working on. Recently I joined a local art group that meets weekly that I really enjoy. I know I can always get feedback from other artists by being part of that art group. I know by painting a lot I will see changes in my work. I also bought a journal so I can write goals and record progress throughout the year.
As an artist, it was nice to finally be able to focus on my own work. I'm glad I had the time and space to complete my work. It took me awhile to find my groove as a painter. I am so used to helping others, that I forgot how to hone my own skills. I gained confidence quickly and it felt great to be creating my own art again. I hope to find space to create larger works in the future. My basement space only allowed me to complete easel size paintings. My audience is yet to be determined, but with some publicity and through social media, I hope to reach a good sized group of patrons. Anything is better than where I am at now, I haven't had a public showing since the 90's.
