This project will help to expand my working space and overall amount of work that I can have in progress at once. Having a more dedicated space to create and store my pottery will open the doors to saying yes to more opportunities in order to show and sell more work. This will also provide the opportunity to improve my skills as a woodworker and problem solver. These tools and skills will benefit my future goals of opening my own permanent studio. Overall, this project would impact my professional career as an artist, allowing me to develop the concepts and quantity of my ceramic work in a functional space that will grow with me. I would plan on measuring the success of this project by the ease of use when it comes to working in a studio with more dedicated work space compared to my current studio setting, as well as the volume of work I could produce.
Working with accomplished guitarist Pete Lothringer, I continue to gain insight into effective ways to add musical color to the jazz and blues pieces. He passes along valuable tips about how to interpret the music and move in and out to support the vocal and guitar parts. This event helped me branch out my community organizing skills to bring musical performance to the community of Minneota and surrounding area. Besides expanding community connections, it helped me to plan and budget with an eye for details. Bringing community together through the arts requires detailed planning, finding supportive individuals and organizations, and investing time with a myriad of details. One week after our event I met with a group of people who are working to lift up local artists via the 3rd Annual Arts Reveal.
