To increase public exposure to the arts by at least 200 youth within the first month after installation. If 200 or more youth (<18 yrs of age) have been exposed to the art within the first month of installation, then this public art project will be successful in connecting regional artists to a new audience. At least 100 individuals from the youth audience will have gained knowledge about the artist and various aspects of the installation and the creative process. If 100 or more youth (<18 yrs of age) have gained knowledge about the artist and various aspects of the installation and the creative process, then this public art project will be successful in changing knowledge among our youth audience. At least 100 youth audience members will understand that "Stepping Up" is about giving Tech students the tools/knowledge to succeed in the future. If 100 or more youth (<18 yrs of age) have gained understanding about the art concept, then this public art project will be successful in changing knowledge among our youth audience. At least 100 individuals that comprise the Tech student community will have developed a stronger sense of pride in our community after the installation. If 100 or more youth (<18 yrs of age) have developed a stronger sense of school pride, then this public art project will be successful in changing attitudes among our youth audience.; Desi Murphy will construct a large scale ceramic wall installation "Stepping Up" for the entrance of the Tech High School building. "Stepping Up" will strengthen school pride, dedication to academic excellence, and promote future success. A survey will be sent to the Technical High School students one month after installation is complete. The survey will ask students 1) Have you seen the new art above the gym? Yes/No 2) Have you gained knowledge about the artist, various aspects of the installation and the creative process' Yes/No 3) "Stepping Up" is about Tech giving students the tools/knowledge to succeed in the future. Do you see this message in the art? Yes/No 4) The artist wants to strengthen school pride through this artwork. Does this artwork give you a stronger sense of school pride? Yes/No 5) Are you less than 18 years old? Yes/No; A survey will be sent to Tech High School students to access knowledge of the art installation and it's impact on the students
