Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

The installation of the small mouth bass sculpture by Parker McDonald will raise the profile of an important Monticello Mississippi River boat launch for game fishing.; The most obvious outcome of this project will be the establishment of another artistic landmark for Monticello, one that in this case will likely have a reach well beyond Monticello as visitors coming here to fish will undoubtably want to be photographed in front of it. Another outcome will be people gaining more insight into the methods Parker uses, along with a deeper look at his artistic journey through an artist interview video we will create upon installation. These have been extremely popular so far. Those who might not be involved in sport fishing will learn about another thing Monticello is known for, that may not have been on their radar until this installation. It will be likely to help spread the word regarding this bass fishing destination in MN. Another outcome we hope for, is to keep people interested in seeing more sculpture in Monticello in the future. This will be good for all regional sculptors, and the network of sculptors swept into our orbit from the previous RFP, who've all expressed an interest in future opportunities in Monticello. The local landmark outcome will be self-evident. We'll also likely see social media posts featuring the new sculpture. Views of the video and comments will tell us if that has made the impact we hoped for. These are something the public has come to expect from us, and area artists in particular enjoy these in-depth interviews. The conversation around "why this here?" we'll facilitate prior to installation will help educate the public about the significance of bass fishing in this area. We will be able to tell by public feedback online and in person at the unveiling whether people are excited about this and whether they continue to ask about sculpture in Monticello.

Measurable Outcome(s)

When publicizing the park and boat launch we will use images of the sculpture. Social media posts by fishermen will indicate we've successfully used this piece of art to raise the profile of the boat launch. Parker's sculpture has been extremely popular with the public. So many people take pics by the sculpture we had to rearrange the rocks. Anecdotally we've heard it has helped popularize launch.
