Lyricality's and Art in Motion's 3rd annual Poetry Day, Honoring Differences/Creating Connection is a poem to song workshop and jam with an intercultural slate of professional MN poets and songwriters.

1. Workshop participants will identify songwriting elements and practice them in collaboration with other creators, in order to craft and perform new songs. 2. Participants and artist-facilitators will enjoy an experience of community-connection through the collaborative creation of new songs. 3. Audience will appreciate the artistry of local poets and songwriters. ; Participants will identify and practice songwriting elements to collaboratively craft new songs and experience community connection. In designing and evaluating programs and projects, we have experimented with a variety of evaluation methods and have determined that narrative (word-based) measurements are more supportive of our mission than quantitative measurements. While quantitative measurements clearly are useful in many situations, including some of our own procedures and practices, to gage participant engagement and what they are responding to, allowing them to tell us in their own words has proved most helpful. We have also discovered that accessibility in light of diversity demands simplicity. 1. New songs will be performed for the public at Art in Motion, immediately following the workshop. Performance will be video-recorded. 2. Surveys completed by participants and artist-facilitators will report experiences of connection. 3. Audience members will be given the opportunity to share words of appreciation for the new songs performed by local poets and songwriters. ; Video-recording of new songs, narrative responses from artists, students, and audience members.
