ACHF Arts Access
The Stearns History Museum staff and board will benefit from this project most directly, as it helps us find community-based guidance and input on current and future fine art and craft collections management. The arts community in Central Minnesota will also benefit from the active and organized collection of work, supported by biographies, photographs, and informational archival files to more fully preserve the story of the visual history of the region. These activities advance the Stearns History Museum's mission to connect people through the power of history and culture and to be a premiere cultural destination in Central Minnesota by creating community-based conversation about the role of fine art and craft and its place in the broader cultural story of the region. A core value of SHM is to engage the public in interactive and immersive experiences about the preservation of our shared history, and this project does just that through the partnership of community arts leaders and artists to guide future collections practices. ; An addendum to our collections policy for fine art and craft The advisory committee and any artists and community partners they invite to participate will be asked to evaluate the project upon completion. This evaluation will be led by our Executive Director, Carie Essig, and Collections Curator, Eric Cheever, and consist of a digital survey about each of the quarterly topics, if they felt the goals were met, and what the next steps need to be. ; Successful completion of the project goals as stated in the application
