Saint John's University will present the Latin jazz ensemble, Tiempo Libre for a public performance and related outreach activities on November 10 - 11, 2022.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Expected outcomes include: ? Central MN audiences will experience, in their community, an exceptional Latin jazz ensemble in a performance that highlights music specific to Cuba ? Audiences will report new understanding/interest in Latin music ? Audiences and workshop participants will report a new understanding/interest in Latin music, in particular timba ? At minimum, 80 central Minnesotans will participate in intimate outreach activities ? 10% of the audience will report this is their first Latin jazz performance ? We will renew relationships with regional partners such as the Roosevelt Education Center and/or Boys and Girls Clubs; Central MN audiences will experience an exceptional Latin jazz ensemble and will report an new understanding/interest in Latin music. SJU will measure outcomes in the following ways: ? Central Minnesota audiences: distribute electronic surveys asking, among other things, if audiences feel like the performance gave them access to a unique art form that is otherwise unrepresented regionally. We will survey to find out if this event attracted new audiences and to measure audience perception of experience and genre ? Workshops: Survey participants and/or facilitators to find out if the workshop taught new skills and techniques or provided new cultural insight and awareness ? Track box office and participation data ? Engage in post-event discussions with partners to assess cultural capacity growth of participants based on participating in activities; Post performance survey, box office data, workshop participation numbers

Audiences indicated in survey responses that they experienced an exceptional Latin jazz ensemble highlighting music specific to Cuba. 47% of respondents indicated they were new to Latin jazz music, and 100% reported an increased appreciation for Latin cul
