300 audience will enjoy popular movie music and contemplate themes of identity, community, and home in the movies. 65 musicians will play award-winning musical scores. The pops genre concert will attract new listeners to the SCSO.; 1. 250 patrons will attend "Finding Home at the Movies". The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra has identified the presentation of accessible, relevant, well-known, and varied repertoire, and friendly, knowledgeable curation from the stage as being attractive and meaningful to local audiences. The SCSO has traditionally played "pops orchestra" repertoire only for the Lemonade Concert, but we feel that kicking off the 2022-2023 season with engaging, award-winning musical scores will excite and engage our audience. 2. Audiences will relate to the many conceptions of home depicted in the chosen repertoire. From the frantic family race to the couch of the iconic "The Simpsons" theme to the cinnamon-scented "Home Alone" theme, to the struggle to return home of "Amistad" and "Apollo 13," to being forced to find a new home after being displaced as in "The Sound of Music" and "Fiddler on the Roof," to a child struggling to find a home among like-minded wizards in "Harry Potter," we are all drawn to home. 3. 60 musicians will rehearse and perform high quality and varied movie scores. Audience will be counted. Audience reaction will be evaluated using surveys in the lobby and by observation. Concert will be recorded.; Evaluation 1. Audience will be counted. Counting audience participation will provide an instant measure of interest and support for SCSO activities. 2. Surveys will be completed by stakeholders and analyzed by board and staff. Patrons will be encouraged to complete and return the survey found on the website or in the lobby on concert night. The SCSO board and staff will compile, analyze, and record survey responses. Information gathered will be used to program future seasons, and improve patron service and hospitality. 3. Audience response will be observed and recorded. The enjoyment of patrons will be measured by the enthusiasm of their response (clapping, standing ovation, cheering). 4. Verbal, photo, and written feedback will be collected and analyzed. Many audience members and musicians provide feedback to staff following the concert. Changes in attitude and understanding can be evaluated based on informal conversations with family and friends. 5. Concert will be recorded. The concert will be professionally recorded and analyzed by the Conductor, Executive Director, and the board of directors.
