Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Upon completion of this Project, the participants will have learned a new artistic skill. They will have completed both a hand thrown pottery piece and a wheel thrown pottery piece to bring back to the Nest for themselves. They will have been exposed to another level of healing through the arts. They will have learned the basics of pottery through design, completion of firing for raw clay and the application of various glazes to finish a piece of pottery that is food safe. The Eagles Healing Nest may decide to write grants or seek donations to set up a pottery space for the Veterans and their families at the Eagles Healing Nest.; Access ; Learning ; Community The 510 Art Lab is located about 2 miles from the Eagles Healing Nest Campus and they have access to vehicles to travel to the Lab. Veterans will be able to easily access our handicap ready facility. The project is open to any Veteran who wants to take this class although the first group will have eight participants. This project provides an art opportunity for these Veterans that is currently not available at their campus. They also will see what is available at the Art Lab if they have other interests such as stained glass and weaving, cooking and wood working. The community of the 510 Art Lab would like to partner with the Veterans in other arts classes that are not available to them currently. We hope to broaden their interests in all art forms to use as another healing mode. Upon completion of the first program, the Veterans will complete an evaluation form related to their experience in pottery.
