Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Social or human service organizations use arts to help achieve their service goals.

Measurable Outcome(s)

With the Breaking Ice performances and discussions, the goal of the Bancroft Neighborhood Association was to bring together our diverse residents, start an open and ongoing dialogue to break down stereotypes, and continue to build a sense of community. This was achieved by providing a safe space for people to learn and participate. Before leaving, the participants were asked to fill out a brief, two-page survey. While the attendance was below what we had hoped, we achieved our intended outcomes. Many people commented that they saw a part of themselves in one or more of the characters in the play. A majority of the participants said they felt more connected to their community having been a part of the event. The tools we used to collect information for the evaluation were the written surveys, notes taken during discussions, and verbal feedback from participants.
