Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

Previously, informal, and anecdotal feedback from audience and in-community conversations as well as feedback from orchestra members has played into the programming and performances of the orchestra. In addition to these informal feedback practices RLCO will conduct audience/participant surveys. Surveys will seek to gauge satisfaction with the performance and program as well as suggestions for future programs and activities. Feedback from the Strings Week participants has been used to inform and refine the planning for the next year's project. Community response to membership and sponsorship opportunities will also be an important source of data related to level of community ownership and pride in the orchestra. As the membership/sponsors body grows this will also become a valuable source of feedback and evaluation information. The Conductor holds conversations with the orchestra members as a group and individually to understand the needs and interests of the members. Knowing what motivates an individual to play in the orchestra is extremely valuable in planning repertoire. As the orchestra continues to create this new path, creating opportunities for feedback and input from the orchestra members as well as the community will be a priority. RLCO performances have historically been well attended and received. Performances in public spaces such as on the boardwalk during Ranier Days, the free concert at the Ranier Community Center, the bandshell performance during the summer concerts in the park series and concerts at Backus Community Center and the Dungeon are all examples of efforts to bring orchestral music to the public where they gather. We plan to expand the orchestral offerings in collaboration with the Backus Community Center as they roll out new and exciting musical offerings.
