Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

1. Publish four books by Minnesota writers including two debut titles and three works by Asian American authors living in Minnesota. 2. Work with other Minnesota nonprofits to make the work of contemporary authors from Minnesota and from around the country available to Minnesota audiences. 3. Bring Minnesota’s literary community to the attention of the nation by entering titles in national awards competitions. 4. Give authors an opportunity for international exposure by exhibiting our books at the Frankfurt International Book Fair in Germany. Measure the number of books and authors published and the number of awards received.

Measurable Outcome(s)

1. Coffee House Press published four books by Minnesota writers including two debut titles and three works by Asian Americans. 2. We collaborated with many Minnesota nonprofits, including: Asian Institute, ArtStart, Banfill-Locke Center, Birchbark Books, the Loft, Hennepin County Library System, Science Museum, Soap Factory, Saint Cloud State, Saint Paul Public Libraries, University of Minnesota, Walker, and Weisman Art Museum. 3. Our founder won the Kay Sexton Award, and Ed Bok Lee won for poetry at the Minnesota Book Awards. Minnesota's literary community received national attention when our titles were finalists for the Asian/Pacific American Award, Lambda Award, PEN Literary Award, PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize, Los Angeles Times Book Prize, New York Public Library Young Lions Award, and a Pulitzer. National awards won by our titles include the Believer Book Award, James Laughlin Award, and a Ford Fellowship. 4. We introduced Minnesota authors to an international audience by exhibiting books at the London and Frankfurt International Book Fairs.
