Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

1. The arts thrive in Minnesota. 2. People of all ages, ethnicities, and abilities participate in the arts. Performances are evaluated through critical and peer reviews, audience surveys, and audience size, written evaluations by choreographers and other artistic collaborators, and informal discussions with dancers and audience members. Educational outreach programming is evaluated by student body size, student surveys, and informal discussions with teachers, students, and administration. Zenon Dance School is constantly assessing the popularity of classes and observing trends in the local and national dance communities to assure that the curriculum reflects the public’s desires.

Measurable Outcome(s)

1. Zenon stepped up this year into the Cowles Center, with an incredibly successful premiere season that included outstanding reviews, new audiences and donors, and standing ovations every night (our measures of success). Artistically, the fall and spring concerts were some of the strongest shows we've ever done, and included new work by Minnesota choreographers Morgan Thorson, Wynn Fricke (accompanied live by Minnesota composer Peter O'Gorman), and Mariusz Olszewski. 2. A Marketing Committee of the Board was formed to target the Twin Cities' deaf/hard of hearing community, which included an exhaustive research process of focus groups, surveys, and audience feedback. Zenon conducted residencies with deaf/hard of hearing students at Como Elementary and Humboldt Secondary. We also offered an American Sign Language-interpreted matinee of Goose" in December 2011 that was well-attended by residency students and their families."
