Project Details

Katha Dance Theatre (KDT) creates, performs, and educates through the arts of dance, music, poetry, and storytelling. Rooted in Kathak, the classical dance style of North India, KDT is dedicated to making Kathak dance accessible, inclusive and relevant.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

A diverse audience of Minnesotans will learn & grow by experiencing Asian Indian art & culture through an ancient & expressive form of dance (Kathak). KDT will produce cross-cultural dance programming, outreach & residencies (live and/or virtual); survey participants to understand their experiences; document feedback in post-show discussions, online, through email, website & social media. 2: The underserved Asian-Indian community will have increased access to the dance, music, art, history and culture of India through KDT's programming. KDT will produce concerts & outreach activities featuring Kathak, the classical dance form of North India; track the size & percentage of its audience that is Asian Indian; train the next generation of Kathak dancers & choreographers.
