Correlating with the Arts Board's goal of having the arts interwoven into every facet of community life, Lakeshore Players Theatre interacts with the life of our community in every facet of our activities as we continue to produce a full season of shows and present off-site shows for increased outreach. In Lakeshore Players 60th Anniversary Season of 2012-13, our goal is to continue to fulfill our mission by producing a diverse season of three plays, two musicals, a children's show, and a 10-minute play festival. Outcomes were measured through box office reports generated for each production, participant surveys gathered using the online tool Survey Monkey, and through reports at monthly meetings of the Board of Directors. 2: Correlating with the Arts Board's goal of the arts thriving in Minnesota, Lakeshore Players 2012-13 goal is to foster growth in participants by continuing to offer year-round theater arts classes for all ages and by expanding the number and variety of classes. This goal will provide teaching artists with expanded opportunities to work in their field, while providing participants opportunities for artistic growth. Outcomes were measured through class and camp registration records, box office reports generated for both youth productions, and participant surveys gathered using the online tool Survey Monkey, and through reports at monthly meetings of the Board of Directors.
Lakeshore Players interacted with the life of our community through the production of seven different shows at our theater, offering a variety of arts experiences for both participants selected through open auditions and attendees drawn from throughout the Twin Cities: Arsenic and Old Lace (classic comedy); Of Thee I Sing (Gershwin musical); Charles Dickens' Cricket on the Hearth (children's show); Inherit the Wind (gripping social justice drama); Neil Simon's The Odd Couple, Female Version (classic comedy with a gender twist); Seussical the Musical (family musical); and ten original short plays selected from our annual playwriting contest in our 9th Annual Ten-Minute Play Festival. In addition, we increased outreach by producing two shows at offsite venues: an original play of a historic trial reenactment Crime of the Ages: The Doc Barker Story at St Paul's Landmark Center; and an original murder mystery production 1953 Murder Mystery at the White Bear Lake Armory. 2: Lakeshore Players met our goal to foster growth in participants through offering nine theatre arts classes for grades three through twelve from January to May 2013. We offered an extended arts learning opportunity for teens through a five week theater arts camp in July-August 2012 that included six performances of a fully-realized play, The Hobbit. In June 2013, we successfully concluded our fiscal year with a three-week youth camp production of a fully-realized children's musical, Willy Wonka, Kids with three performances. Due to staff cutbacks, we were unable to offer classes September through December.
