ACHF Arts Access
We plan to follow through with those events that were cancelled in 2020. We will get our regular programs up and running again - Art Explorers, summer art camp, and dance program. The arts council is drafting guidelines for a monthly open mic series for teenagers, which we hope to launch this fall. The mural committee will approve a finalized drawing, then meet with the Winsted City Council and the Winsted Chamber to garner their support for a public mural. We are planning an outdoor summer music series that will run for three consecutive weeks and feature various genres. We will also move forward with our community tile painting project this summer, and our fall concert. Through these events, we will reach an intergenerational community, as well as the underserved in our area, targeting senior citizens. As a board, we will evaluate the benefits of our regular programming by interviewing the participants and their parents, and document the results. At the end of the second year of this grant, we will evaluate the open mic night in the same manner as the regular programming. New intergenerational events will be reviewed through participants interviews and documentation. The arts council will assess the benefits of having a storefront building and what that means to the community through participant interviews and random surveying.
We were able to follow through with most of our goals. Our regular programming is back on track. Art Explorers' Box City was a great opportunity for those who attended and a successful venture. We received a lot of good feedback in person and via social media from those who viewed the exhibit or who had children partake in the program. Our summer music series had roughly 250 people, young and old, enjoy the variety of music that was offered. Many attendees expressed they wanted to see this music series offered next year. None of the above would have been possible without knowing that our building expenses were covered with these grant funds. We could focus our energy on what events we could host to a wide range of people in our community rather than fret over expenses.
