Duluth Playhouse added three new staff: community outreach director, resident stage manager, and resident scenic designer. The Playhouse paid community artists and hired Equity and other professional artists/actors. The organization provided free adult actor training for performance-based outcomes. Shows, on average, sold 90-95% of tickets. The budget increased by over $60,000. The Playhouse invested in artistic standards, by working with larger budgets that achieved higher production values and provided employment for artists. The education program served 650 children and sixty-five adults. We offered scholarships and free previews that fill the house with community service groups, students, families, and artists that may not be able to afford a ticket. We offered two audio description shows, three American Sign Language-interpreted shows, and large print programs, and met Americans with Disabilities Act requirements. The organization was accessible to patrons and artists through email, Facebook, blogging, and surveys.
