Project Details

Goldstein Museum of Design strengthens and supports the University of Minnesota's academic mission through direct engagement with designed objects. To realize this, Goldstein Museum of Design cultivates object-based teaching, scholarship, and inspiration for students, faculty, and researchers both on and off campus.

Proposed Measurable Outcome(s)

GMD's DEAI practices will create increased access for a wider range of Minnesotans. Indicators of change: 1) new purchases for the collection will reflect indigenous designers and designers of color. 2) Advisory Board volunteers will attend DEAI workshops that will be affect policy and practice.

Measurable Outcome(s)

GMD added collection objects by seven BIPOC designers, and its advisory board continue active involvement in AAMs Facing Change Initiative.. Twelve objects were purchased from a small acquisition fund by diverse designers ranging from Delina White to Lewis Jacobs. GMD's Advisory Board completed the majority of a new DEAI plan and successfully recruited 2 additional diverse board members.
