ACHF Arts Access
1. Create and respond to opportunities for artists to shape and transform the experience of public places. 2. Encourage the genre of public art genre to evolve from permanent visual art installations to also include placemaking temporary/conceptual/performative work and social and environmental practice. 3. Foster the community’s understanding and care of public art through stewardship and educational activities. 4. Foster public art participation of all ages, ethnicities, and abilities by attending to the diverse voices of the community and engaging them in public art initiatives. Measure numbers of projects produced and created, artists engaged, volunteers involved, and overall statistics related to a project’s public exposure and active participants. Measure breadth of media represented in projects undertaken. Evaluate artistic quality and the place Public Art Saint Paul projects hold in a national and international context. Measure numbers of people engaged as stewards and participants in educational programming and critical analysis of the quality of activities offered. Measure artists engaged, program participants, and effectiveness of outreach strategies.
1. Placed resident artists in City and watersheds to engage in planning, project design, public programming; managed City public art ordinance that sponsored new artworks; and produced Arts Festival. 2. Collaborated on or produced Central Corridor Public Art Plan; expanded Artist Residencies; artist/scientist City Art Collaboratory; designs for art within living systems of the city; artists on urban planning study teams. 3. Produced free workshops and presentations/tours/videos/on-line. Fostered artwork maintenance and citizen stewards. 4. Program promotion; project site accessibility; diverse voices in planning and production; and free programs in core city neighborhoods. Outcome achievement measured/evaluated by counting projects/programs produced, artists engaged/audiences reached, and dollars leveraged; reviewing planning and design documents; evaluating surveys of artists/participants; focus group discussions with artists, partners, audiences; interviews with staff/board.
