The Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants Program Administration
$5,525,000 the first year and $6,000,000 the second year are for history programs and projects operated or conducted by or through local, county, regional, or other historical or cultural organizations or for activities to preserve significant historic and cultural resources. Funds are to be distributed through a competitive grant process. The Minnesota Historical Society shall administer these funds using established grant mechanisms, with assistance from the advisory committee created under Laws 2009, chapter 172, article 4, section 2, subdivision 4, paragraph (b), item (ii).
Measurable outcomes include the number of counties, applicants, and grantees served through the grants program and the types of grants awarded. In addition, grants staff measure the amount of technical assistance provided, including through workshops, site visits, phone calls, emails, and face-to-face consultation. Grants staff also monitor the improvement grant applicants make with each grant application and the degree to which project results meet professional standards, ensuring Minnesota's historic resources are properly preserved.
